Text to Speech

Have any text read aloud with your device's built-in voices — rate and pitch adjustable, completely private, works offline.

YOUR TEXT NEVER LEAVES YOUR DEVICE

Need the speech as a file? Browsers can't capture system voices directly — play it out loud and record with the Voice Recorder, or use your OS screen recorder. We'd rather be honest than add a broken download button.

Text to speech that respects your privacy

Most online TTS sites send your text to their servers, impose word limits, and watermark or paywall the result. This page does something simpler: it asks your own device to speak, using the speech engine already built into Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and your browser. That means no upload, no character cap from us, no account — and it keeps working offline with locally installed voices.

Getting better voices

The voice list comes from your operating system, and most systems hide their best voices behind a download:

  • Windows — Settings → Time & Language → Speech → Add voices (natural voices available in Windows 11).
  • macOS / iOS — Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices, where premium Siri-quality voices can be downloaded.
  • Android — Settings → Accessibility → Text-to-speech output → install/update Google Speech Services voices.

After installing, refresh this page and the new voices appear in the picker.

Uses

  • Proofread your writing by ear — clumsy sentences are easier to hear than to see.
  • Listen to articles while doing something else.
  • Preview how a script sounds before recording it yourself with the recorder.

FAQ

Can I download the speech as an MP3?

Not from this page — browsers play system voices outside the capturable audio pipeline, so a reliable download isn't technically possible. Play it aloud and record with the Voice Recorder, or use your OS recorder.

Where do the voices come from?

From your OS and browser — each platform ships different voices, and most let you install higher-quality ones via accessibility settings.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No — synthesis happens on your device. The page even works offline with local voices.

Is there a length limit?

Long texts are split into chunks automatically, so whole articles work. Some mobile browsers pause speech when the screen locks.
