Free online audio converter — no uploads
This converter is FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, running directly in your browser tab. The first time you convert, it downloads the converter engine (~30 MB, one time, with a live byte counter — it's cached afterwards). After that, conversions start instantly and your files never leave your device, which means no upload waits and no server-side size limits.
Supported conversions
Convert any common audio format to MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC or AAC — MP3 to WAV, M4A to MP3, FLAC to MP3, OGG to MP3, WAV to FLAC and dozens more. Video files (MP4, WebM) can also be dropped to extract and convert their audio track.
Which format should I pick?
- MP3 — plays everywhere; the safe default for sharing.
- WAV — uncompressed and lossless; best for editing, but large.
- M4A (AAC) — better quality than MP3 at the same bitrate; native on Apple devices.
- FLAC — lossless like WAV at roughly half the size.
- OGG — open-source Vorbis; great for games and the web.
FAQ
Why does the converter download something first?
The first conversion downloads FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly (~30 MB, one time). It's cached afterwards, and it's program code — none of your audio is ever sent anywhere.
Which conversion direction gives the best quality?
Converting lossless to lossy (WAV → MP3) loses some detail by design. Converting lossy to lossless (MP3 → WAV) is safe but can't restore detail. Avoid lossy-to-lossy chains when possible.
Can I convert video files?
Yes — drop an MP4 or WebM and the audio track is extracted and converted. For a dedicated workflow with a thumbnail preview, use our Video to MP3 tool.
