Voice Recorder
Record from your microphone with a live waveform and input meter. Pause, resume, then download as MP3, WAV or WebM.
Record audio online — no app needed
This recorder uses your browser's MediaRecorder API. Hit Start, allow microphone access, and watch the live waveform draw as you speak. The level meter lets you confirm the mic works before you commit to a take, and pause/resume lets you skip interruptions without splicing files later. Everything is captured into your device's memory only — we never receive a byte.
Download formats
- Native — whatever your browser records best (WebM/Opus on Chrome, Edge and Firefox; MP4/AAC on Safari and iPhone). Highest quality, instant download.
- MP3 — converted on your device; plays absolutely everywhere.
- WAV — lossless PCM; ideal if you'll edit the recording afterwards.
Tips for better recordings
- Use the level meter first — aim for a bar that moves well past halfway when you speak.
- Get within ~20 cm of the mic and record a 5-second test.
- Clean up the take afterwards with our trimmer or volume booster.
FAQ
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Audio is captured with the MediaRecorder API and held in your device's memory only. We never receive a single byte.
Why does the browser ask for microphone permission?
Browsers require explicit permission before any page can access the mic. It applies only to this tab and can be revoked any time from the address bar.
Which download format should I pick?
Native (WebM/MP4) is highest quality and instant. MP3 for universal compatibility, WAV for lossless editing.
